Part – Time Audio Visual Technician

Overview of the Nature of Work:

An Audio Visual Technician has a successful ability to operate and adjust equipment to record, mix, and reproduce sound. Work in a variety of settings, including all church services, special events, and live performances. This role requires a deep understanding of audio systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure in dynamic environments. The ability to collaborate closely with event organizers, ministers, pastors, performers, and other technical staff to ensure seamless sound and visual production.

As a live AV technician, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining sound and production equipment to deliver exceptional audio and visual performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Live Audio Operations

  • Audio Mixing: Operate the Allen & Heath Qu-32 console for main services, actively mixing vocals and instruments for a balanced house mix.
  • Secondary Systems: Set up and operate the Allen & Heath Qu-16 for smaller settings, portable setups, or monitor mixes as needed in the multi-purpose building.
  • Sound Check & Rehearsals: Facilitate Choir Practice and band rehearsals, ensuring all musicians have proper monitor levels and clear audio.
  • Stage Management: Handle all physical stage setup, including cabling and microphone stands for both the multi-purpose building and sanctuary. Ensure the stage is clean and safe.

2. Visual & Streaming Production

  • Presentation Software: Operate Faithlife Proclaim to display song lyrics, scripture, sermon points, and announcements. Ensure slides are formatted correctly and typos are corrected before service.
  • Livestream Management: Manage the vMix broadcast environment on the desktop computer. Monitor audio levels for the web stream independently of the room mix.
  • Platform Distribution: Ensure the livestream feeds correctly to YouTube Live and Facebook Live, monitoring for connection stability and quality.
  • Video Integration: Utilize NDI to route video and graphics between computers and software (Proclaim to vMix) efficiently.
  • Camera Operation: Control camera angles, zoom, and focus during the service to provide an engaging viewing experience.

3. Event Coverage

  • Weekly Services: Provide full technical coverage for Sunday Morning and Wednesday Evening services.
