The Call Now-Automated Calling System
The church has subscribed to an automated phone calling system with One Call Now. This allows one message to be sent to church members.
To receive messages, one must register a phone number, either a home number or a cellular number, or both. If you would like to be included in the One Call Now system, please contact Susan Britt at 919-353-1395.
Groups within the church can receive messages just to them. A group leader needs to submit a list of members to Susan Britt. Whenever there is a change to a group’s membership, the group leader needs to inform Susan.
Toye Layton, 919-842-6293, and Vivian Taylor, 919-499-7059, make the calls. Susan Britt manages the lists.
This system allows the membership to be informed of events and important news and is a valuable and convenient communication tool.

Missions Prayer Request
This prayer request comes from a short article entitled “Praying God’s Heart” found in the November 2017 WMU periodical, Missions Mosaic, page 47 .
“Prayer is such a privilege. How amazing that we as humans are gifted with… the ability to communicate with Him. What a mystery that the Creator of the universe… hears us…” He listens, He hears, and He responds.
“What about Him? What is on His heart? We see God’s heart by looking at Jesus. When Jesus walked the earth, even with so many needs and opportunities around Him, he took time to pray. Prayer can be constant communication with God, but even Jesus [God in the flesh] took specific time to pray.” In the gospels we see that He prayed alone, He taught us to pray, and He prayed for and with others. “One of the greatest examples of faith is found in Jesus’ prayer in John 17. Jesus prayed for God’s glory, for Himself, for His disciples, for all believers, and for those who ‘will believe’—people who were lost but who ‘will believe’. What an example of faith, of knowing and believing what hasn’t happened yet. He shows us how to believe as we pray… Jesus prayed for the lost in a way that was full of faith, and so can we.
“God’s heart is for believers, for us. But God’s heart is still very much for those who have not yet believed. He hears their cries. He knows their pain. And if nothing changes, he knows their destiny. He doesn’t want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9). …The lost are on God’s heart. […]”
“Lord, help us to see the lost as You do. Help us to have faith for the difference only You can make. Help us to see the lost as those who ‘will believe’. And help us to live in such a way that they can know You. Amen.”
We are to be, after all,

Happy Thanksgiving Holly Springs Family!!
Once again, I’m absolutely amazed of how quickly our time passes us by. The Psalmist couldn’t have said it better: “Behold, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight; Surely every man at his best is a mere breath. Selah.” (Psalm 39:5)
As children, it seemed our days drug along like grandfather clocks much to the contrary of our adult lives. I don’t know about you, but it seems the hours click off like minutes and the days like hours. Oh if only we could slow the clock down and perhaps our lives. The truth is, we can’t do much about the clock, but we can certainly do something about our lives.
Just last evening, I was watching a documentary on the Roman culture and the value they placed on enjoyment. Accordingly, it is believed that Roman men averaged working approximately 7 hours a day which left 5 hours for “recreation.” Generally speaking, the day and night were evenly split which lent a full 12 hours for work and enjoyment.
To be clear, whether those numbers are skewed a little or no, one thing is emphatically clear: They did not believe in the adage “All work and no play.” For many of us (myself certainly included), living leisurely doesn’t come easy. At the onset, this statement may appear as though I’m referring solely to the demands of pastoring. While this is certainly true, I’m moreover referring to the difficulty I sometimes have in simply…resting. Perhaps the same can be said of you my dear friend. When it’s time to get up and go to work, while you may not be smiling per se, you do, however, find a sense of fulfillment when the day’s done. But to sit around in a lounge chair or spend the afternoon in a coffee shop with your favorite book is in no way appealing to the workaholic.
The truth is, there are some that just read what I wrote and are now thinking, “That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever heard. Who doesn’t enjoy resting, playing golf, going shopping or just sitting on the beach (during appropriate weather of course?) To the one that’s not of the type A driven personality, such a thought is foreign to you. Then there are those that don’t even know what I’m referring to when referencing a ‘Type A’ personality type. Perhaps the chart below will help.
As you can see, most (not necessarily all) fall in to one or both of these personality types. Myself… I certainly would lean more into the type A category than the contrary. So…as previously stated, relaxing is something I sometimes have to ‘work at.’ 😊
“So why is all this important,” you may ask? For one, I think it’s imperative we ‘try’ and slow the pace a little during these holiday times. At Thanksgiving, take time to actually be ‘present’ while visiting with your families. Put the phone down. Make eye contact. Take in the conversation and guard against what I call “mind drift.” Mind drift is when someone is talking to you and yet your mind is absolutely somewhere else. Listen to those grandchildren. Throw the ball or maybe some horse shoes. Whatever you do, be present. Cause here’s the fact for all of us: None of us know what tomorrow may bring. Enjoy “today.”
God bless you Church family and Happy Thanksgiving!

This church will provide a place where people may encounter Christ in worship, in Salvation, in renewal, and in ministry. It will seek to identify, train and support believers to carry the ministry of the church into our community, our state and our world in the form of evangelism, teaching, hands-on ministry and sharing of our resources.
